Watch our zookeepers perform an operant conditioning session on our Rhino that involves shaping desired behaviors through positive reinforcement. These behaviors are not just for show. These specific behaviors desentize animals and enable zookeeper and veterinarian staff to check for abnormalities on the skin and peform visual exams in the mouth and on the belly, for example, withouth having to anesthetize.
