In April 2026, the El Paso Mexican American Cultural Center in partnership with the El Paso Museum of History will host an Encuentro de Son Jarocho, a gathering of musicians and culture bearers who will come together to share and perform this musical tradition.
The MACC will welcome musicians from Veracruz, Mexico from the renowned group Chuchumbe, along with musicians from within the El Paso region and beyond, creating a rich exchange of ideas and performances.
Community members will be welcome to attend and participate in the fandango performances and to learn about the genre and culture including the dance, foodways, instrument making, costume and more through hands-on workshops, demonstrations and culinary tastings.
