Beaded: Powerful Patterns of Color and Design is a new exhibition at the El Paso Museum of Archaeology that explores how Native American communities adopted glass trade beads—a material originally introduced from outside their cultures—and incorporated them into their own artistic traditions. Building upon beadwork traditions that date back to prehistoric times, Indigenous communities have continued to use beadwork as a means of self-identification, personal expression, intergenerational knowledge transmission, and the preservation of cultural identity and affiliation among Native peoples of North America.
The exhibition features objects from the Museum’s collections, along with beadwork generously loaned by local collectors and beadworkers from the Tigua (Ysleta del Sur Pueblo) community.
The exhibition will be on display from October 3, 2026, through March 27, 2027.
