The El Paso Zoo celebrates all moms for Mother’s Day by paying tribute to orangutan mothers and a special promotion for all visiting mothers to the zoo.
The El Paso Zoo is partnering with the M.O.M. – Missing Orangutan Mothers campaign as a positive way to bring attention to the crisis facing these beautiful orangutans by encouraging people to help protect them. Because of the growing demand for palm oil, more and more orangutans are being killed every year on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra and baby orangutans are losing their mothers in this crisis.
The Zoo will have informational booths outside of the orangutan exhibit where guests can learn all about what can be done to help save these orangutan mothers.
There will be zookeepers on site to answer questions, orangutan artifacts, activities and coloring pages for children, and a special orangutan enrichment session at 12:30 p.m.
All moms, abuelitas, and mother figures this Mother’s Day will receive a special promotion of 20 percent off their adult ticket price. No other discounts apply to this offer. Only valid on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
