Lar Gibbon Habitat by Orangutans
4001 E. Paisano, El Paso, Texas 79905
Meet the Lar Gibbon keeper and learn more about the 2 Gibbon at the El Paso Zoo: Lucy and Thai!
Lar Gibbon is a Lesser Ape that is currently listed as Endangered by the IUCN. Lesser Apes are different from monkeys, primarily due to lack of a tail. The Lar Gibbon is endangered because of deforestation and habitat loss in their home region of Southeast Asia.
Lucy, the 11-year-old female Gibbon has been at the El Paso Zoo for 2 years. She came from Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, TX. Thai, the 13-year-old male Gibbon has been at the El Paso zoo for the same amount of time, and he comes from Hogle Zoo in Utah.
Every Saturday and Sunday over the Summer, zoo guests can stop by the Lar Gibbon exhibit at 2 PM to meet the Gibbon Keeper to learn more about conservation efforts and our Lar Gibbons.
Free with paid admission into zoo.
